Quick Release Mooring Hooks

In case of an emergency, Quick Release Mooring Hooks can disconnect the tanker’s mooring lines with minimal effort, even under full load conditions.

This will limit the damage to the jetty and the environment. Resetting the mooring hook to the operative status requires just one simple action. The standard versions of the Quick Release Mooring Hooks are able to safely handle workloads from 40 up to 200 metric tons and the units can be supplied as single, double, triple, quadruple or sextuple hook configurations. They are able to operate within 180° horizontally and 45° vertically.

Resetting the mooring hook to the operative status requires just one simple action, even at full Safe Working Load. All Quick Release Mooring Hooks are individually tested at 150% of the Safe Working Load, are low on total costs of ownership and have a long proven durability.

Quick Release Mooring Pulley

Conventional Quick Release Mooring Hooks are not always the right solution for mooring issues. When limited space is an issue, the Quick Release Mooring Pulley could offer a solution.

A Quick Release Mooring Pulley is used to reduce the amount of fixed mooring points: instead of two conventional Quick Release Mooring Hook Units only one Pulley is needed. The mooring line will run from the moored vessel to the pulley where it will be looped back to the vessel where it will be secured on the vessel’s deck bits. This saves space on the deck of the vessel: only one winch is needed to create two mooring lines.

With the Quick Release Mooring Pulley the force concentration on each rope is equalized because the friction in the sheave rotation is minimized.

Quick Release Offshore Hooks

Mampaey Offshore Industries designed Quick Release Offshore Hooks for safe side by side mooring and tandem mooring of shuttle tankers to FSO’s, FPSO’s, FSRU’s, FLNG’s.

We designed our Quick Release Offshore Hooks for CALM/deep water buoys standard with a range from 60 up to 600 tons safe working load. We supply single, double, triple and quadruple quick release hook units for side by side mooring applications.

Safe monitoring with Mooring Load Monitoring System (MLMS)

With the Mooring Load Monitoring System you can keep a close and constant watch on the forces on the mooring lines. You can take immediate action with possible slack or overload situations. Load information is displayed in real time, the alarms can be preset on Safe Working Load requirements. The retrieved data can be used to estimate the number of mooring lines required for safe mooring. You can access this information on different portable devices such as PDA’s and pagers.

Capstans

Do you spend too much time on mooring? We designed and manufactured our capstans for safe and economic handling of vessels.

Capstans can greatly reduce the handling time needed for mooring. Simultaneously, they prevent heavy lifting of mooring lines.
Our basic capstans is available from 1 ton up to 3 tons nominal pull. Often, capstans are integrated on the hook units. They can also be supplied as separate freestanding units or as add-on units.

Capstans benefits:

  • Certified for zones 1 and 2 or non-hazardous areas.
  • Gearbox greased for life.
  • 3-Phase squirrel cage induction motor with direct vertically mounted planetary gear. This motor reduces required output, torque and speed.
  • Foot switch and/or push button operation.
  • Local (non-)reversible type motor starter.
  • Optionally equipped with mechanical or electrical braking device.
  • Single and dual speed capstans available.

Safer and more economic operation with Mooring Load Monitoring

All Quick Release Buoy Hooks are delivered with a monitoring system. With a Mooring Load Monitoring system the Quick Release Buoys Hooks can be operated safer and more economic.

With this monitoring system mooring loads can be measured in metric tons. A load cell is integrated, showing the proportional load in the mooring line. After mooring, the monitoring system provides valuable information regarding loads and alarms. This information is compared with preset data.

Environmental Monitoring System

The Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) gathers and records meteorological & oceanographical data from various sensors.

With EMS data you can predict ship behavior which creates a safer berthing operation. Pilots and marine personnel can use the actual data and trends to make proper decisions.

The Environmental Monitoring System consists of:

  • Weather station
  • Current sensor
  • Wave and tide sensors

Berthing Approach System

The Berthing Approach System aggregates the vital approach data with traffic lights and LED digits.

With this system pilots and marine personnel can make the best decisions for a safe berthing process.
The Berthing Approach System consists of:

  • Large LED Display
  • Eye safe lasers

Dynamic Oval Towing DOT®

The 360° Dynamic Oval Towing (DOT) system adds safety, controllability and flexibility to the performance of tugs.

It enables the tugs to rotate in all directions in a safe and controlled manner. The rotation is irrespective of the heading of the assisted vessel.

In exposed conditions this capability allows the tug to meet waves safely with its bow forward. In confined spaces assisting vessels is much safer: the 360° all round towing system makes the tug’s full power available in any direction.

DOT’s oval shape bridges the distance between the towing points for sailing ahead or astern. There are towline forces above and hydrodynamic forces below the water.

The close match of these forces creates safe and optimal maneuverability. With just one integrated system, the towing direction can easily be changed between bow and stern.
